Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect
If we want to be a positive person then we have to have positive thoughts before we can show it in our actions. Just the same if we want to live and example of of Christian life then we have to have the mind of Christ. What we think will come out in our words and actions in some way, form or fashion.
If you are a Christian and you still have trouble with your thoughts I want to give you one key ingredient that may help you win the battle of your mind. Winning the battle of the mind is very important in living the Christian life. The enemy (Satan) knows this, so he will try extra hard, working overtime to win this battle. He knows that if he can win your mind then you will never be the person God meant for you to be. You will never live out your purpose. So here we go.
This key ingredient in the first part is called our EYES. What we look at brings thoughts into our mind. We have to be very careful and aware of what we are looking at. We have to constantly make sure that we are not looking at anything that will allow us to think negative, evil or sinful thoughts. The internet and television are the two major things I think about regarding this. It is so easy to stumble across something on the internet or on television that will cause us to have thoughts all day or all week that will worp our minds. We often tell ourselves that a simple glance will not hurt but this is exactly what Satan wants us to think. His way is slow and gradual. Satan works in a very gradual strategic fashion in order to conform our minds to what the world has to offer. He has a specific plan to keep your mind occupied with things that are opposite Godly and positive thinking.
If we are going to speak things, that bring about freedom, joy, peace, inspiration for others and ourselves then we have to guard our eyes against anything that is the opposite. In other words, if we watch things that have sexual content in them then we will have these thoughts later on and may catch our self thinking more deeply as time goes on. If we watch television or play video games with vulgar language in them then we can expect to have these words in our minds and eventually will come out of our mouth. Again, what goes into our minds will eventually come out if we continue to let them in.
Are you battling some things in your mind that you do not know how to get rid of? Just think about what you look at on a daily, weekly basis. I quit watching the news months ago beacause I noticed that I was worrying about things more, I was also talking about things that are happening in the world, like I was in fear or something. The things I saw on the news stayed with me throughout the day and caused me to be someone that God did not intend for me to be. I know now that this was a distraction to keep me from meditating on the things that God wanted me to think of , such as peace, harmony, unity, hope, faith, love, inspire, good, grace, calmness, etc. I could go on, but I hope that you get the point.
The bible says, “”The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! Matthew 6:22-23
Our eyes are the windows to our souls. If we are feeding our eyes with things that of the darkness then we will live this way. If it continues to be nurtured then, it brings forth sin, and eventually DEATH. Just the opposite is true, if we are looking at things that bring forth light then we will shine more and more for Christ, where there is LIFE.
