Luke 9:3-5 says, Take nothing for the journey- no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt. Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town. If people, do not welcome you, leave their town and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.

God does not want us to wait any longer. We do not need to clean up first, or work out  some of our issues or learn a little more about Christianity before we go all in for Christ. Everything is perfect right now to start following Christ if you are not already following Him, He will meet you where we are. Once we make that decision he will begin to transform us as we walk in faith alone. When God see’s us stepping out in faith, He will reveal more about himself each and every time. In other words, as we take steps of faith towards Christ, he then will also take a step towards us. If you have already been a follower of Christ but recently have felt far from God, then now is the time to go all in. Take a step towards Him today. A good way to start is by just simply talking to him. Tell him  your heart. He wants to listen. Open the Word of God and begin to read and let him talk back to you.

Warnings: Be ready for people not to accept the new you. The cost of following Christ is not an easy one in this world but it is worth the reward of having peace, comfort and hope of eternal life. People are going to give you a hard time, or at least it will seem like people are giving you a hard time, but that is just the fleshly things of the world fighting against the sprit. In these times, keep your eyes and mind on Jesus. Practice humility as Christ did. Dust yourself off and keep on going. When people see you consistently following Christ and acting in faith they will be encouraged and even curious.

As we begin to follow Christ, He will ask us to do some things that are out of our comfort zone. He may ask us to do something that we feel that we are not capable of doing. That is exactly what He wants us  to feel. We have to rely on Him to help us. When we take that step into the unknown then we allow the Holy Spirit to empower us to do the tasks that God has called us to.

In Luke 9:13-15. Jesus instructs his disciples to give 5000 people something to eat with only 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish. At this point the disciples did not understand how in the world all of these people were going to be fed from only this amount of food, but they eventually did as Jesus said, then Jesus was able to do a miracle. The story goes on to say that all 5000 were fed with plenty left over. This is how God works. He wants us to step out in faith first, without hesitation, then he will do the rest. Even if it sounds crazy or absurd. The truth is, we can not have faith until we step out in it. Faith does not come only by thinking or speaking but by doing. The more we step out in faith and watch how God shows up and delivers every time, we will learn to trust in Him more and more.

I challenge anyone reading this blog to take a step of faith today. Pray and ask God what He would have you to do for Him. When he opens a door, don’t hesitate, just walk through it and I promise you that Jesus will meet you on the other side.

One response to “FAITH ALONE

  1. Great post here. And too true. When I came back into finding my faith, years ago, I also lost a lot of whom I thought were good friends. But there’s a reason for everything to happen. People come and go into your life for a lesson. But I, along with my family, am completely comfortable in my faith and will need nothing more than what we have now.
