Matthew 5:43-44 ,“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven.
The people of ISIS or any other terrorist group may very well be our enemies because they want to kill Christians and cause fear in our lives, but we still are called to love them. I know you are thinking, that I must be crazy. Maybe I am, but Jesus was called crazy too. So, I will take it as a compliment. As Christians we have to guard ourselves against this hate that can easily develop in our hearts when we hear of terrorist trying to destroy us. If we do then they have already won the real battle, which is the one in our hearts.
Proverbs 4:32, Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
What is really taken place in the spiritual realm is a battle for our souls. Satan is trying everything he can to make us hate, make us bitter, make us lose focus of what matters in this life and for eternity. He is a master of deceptions and lies and he is at work every second trying to figure out ways to make us lose our faith. He is doing it by establishing fear in our lives. He knows that where fear is, there is no faith. Do not fall for this trick as many people are doing everyday. So, do not fear or hate the people or individuals carrying out terrorism, it is their spiritual blindness that is causing them to do this. Instead pray for them to be healed in the name of Jesus,
Ephesians 6:12 , For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms
Let me make one thing clear, I am not saying that we should not defend ourselves, our families or our country. We should do that but do it with a right heart. It is the heart that matters. I personally have many guns in my house to protect my house and will use them on anyone trying to cause harm to me or my family, but I pray that my heart would not be filled with hate if I ever have to act in this manner. It would be only to protect and defend.
1 Peter 5:8 , Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
I challenge you to be watchful, read your bible daily and pray about everything. In these very dark times that we are in, we have to stay focused on God. We have to look for the things that are unseen and not at the things that are seen with our physical eyes. Remember, the things that we can not see last forever but this earth and everything in it including our physical bodies will all be dust again one day.
2 Corinthians 4:18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Be encouraged! God is in control. Do not fear the things that you are seeing. Rather trust in God who has counted the hairs on your head. He is with you always. He will have his way. There is no stopping Him. Lift up your heads and be bold. If God is for us, then who can be against us.
No matter what happens, whatever you do, make sure you keep LOVE in the front of your mind and hearts.
