Lottery Fever

The lottery is over one billion dollars!! I believe that this is a record. So many people will play the lottery for a chance to win this amount of money. Everyone has Lottery Fever!  Winning this amount of money is pretty scary if you ask me. I would be worried that someone would be always trying to rob me. I don’t know if you are going to play or not but if you do I wish you good luck!

Now, something to think about…..

Just imagine for a moment that you did have a ticket and as you were watching the numbers draw on television, the first number was a match, then the next was also correct, then the next and so on until all of the numbers were called out. You matched all of the numbers! You won the lottery!  Can you imagine how that would feel. I would imagine that a sense of happiness, security, excitement, relief, etc. would come over you. The first thought in my head would probably be, ” What I am going to buy first?” I imagine many people would say big houses, cars, boats, vacations, helping out family and friends, giving to the charities, starting a business and much much more. Everything that you could have ever imagined could be yours with that kind of money.

Mark 8:36, What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?

Now imagine, on the way to lottery office, you were hit by an 18 wheeler and died instantly. How good would this money do you? One minute you were a multi-millionaire who could buy anything that you wanted on this earth, the next moment  you are faced with death. You are now faced with eternity where money is not worth anything. The only thing that matters is where you put your faith when you were alive on earth. If you put your faith in Jesus Christ you would spend eternity in heaven. If you put your faith in anything else other than Jesus Christ then you will spend eternity in hell.

Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God is not going to ask us when we die, how much money or things did we have, or how many people did we help, or even how good were we. None of that matters when we leave this earth. The only thing He is going to want to know is did we have a relationship with His Son, Jesus. God does not care how many sins you have committed. The truth is, that even one sin would keep us from Heaven, that is why Jesus came to earth to die in our place. He was perfect and died for the imperfect so we could be reunited with God the Father.

Hebrews 10:2, Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Friends, all I am wanting you to consider today is this. Do you know Jesus? Do you have a real relationship with Him? I AM NOT  asking you, do you go to church or are you a good person. I am also not asking you if you gave money to poor, or if you even know the Bible from front to back. The only thing that is going to matter once our time is up on this earth is, if we know Jesus or not.

If you can without a doubt say yes, I know Him, then I am so proud and grateful for you. You are my brother and sister in Christ. But if you are not sure then I ask you to consider giving Him your life today. Ask Him to come into your life and forgive you of your sins. It does not matter what you have done. He will accept you just as you are. Start following Him by praying, reading your bible, get into a good church and watch how He will change your life.

John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
