Ripple Effect (Character Pt1)

Proverbs 22:1 , A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.

Have you ever thrown a rock into a still lake before? If you have then you know that it only takes one little pebble to start a ripple effect. It is amazing how such a tiny little pebble can make such a big impact on a huge plot of still sitting water. This is how a people of character are. They can do something that seems so small and make a big difference. When it is observed it seems genius, but I am here to tell you that it is not genius. Anyone can become a leader like this. It starts with an act of good character. It also works the other way around too. We can do something really small to take away our influence with others as well.

I am not speaking of mistakes, we all make mistakes. What I am referring to is something called character. Unfortunately the word character is not used or taught much in this day in time. I would like to challenge everyone reading this blog to help bring this important trait back into society. The foundation of the United States of America was built on character, so we know that character is an important ingredient to success in life. Without it, there is no real success. Now I know many people define success in different ways, but we cannot have any real success without character, no matter how you define it.  Character holds success together like glue. If we develop character then we will not be a one hit wonder or a hit and miss leader. When we have character our leadership will be consistent, it will be long term, it will give us success that will lasts out our whole lives.

A good name is better than silver or gold. It is better than having all the money in the world. It takes character to develop a good name. There are many different traits that we can learn and apply to develop our character. Not doing these things also can destroy our character.

I will discuss each character trait over the next few blog post. Please continue to read this blog series labeled “Character”.

God bless.
