Let the Change Begin

Genesis 1:1-3,” The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. Then God said,” Let there be light”; and there was light.

If you are setting new years resolutions, new goals, or wanting to start over with life I want to leave you with some things to think about as you make this decision that will help you have success in your endeavors. Not only are these thoughts something to think about, they will be the key to moving forward. I will go as far to say that if these thoughts are not taken into account, you will most definitely face failure.

Think on this.

In order to have a beginning of something there has to be an end to something. When God created light the first thing that had to come to an end was darkness. Since light and darkness cannot exist at the same time, there only can be one. Also, we can not go both left and right at the same time. This may seem very simple to understand but it is not simple to apply. Unfortunately, when we are trying to make a change in life for the better we do not take into account the importance of this principle. This is why most of us stay stuck and never move forward.

Many people will make new year resolutions for 2017 but most of them will not last very long and some will never even begin. I myself have been guilty of this very thing. Once I made a new years resolution to get in the best shape of my life, but the first day I  woke up and ate 2  Krispy Kreme donuts for breakfast. This was not a great start for me to say the least. Unfortunately, this is what a lot of us do. We do not think of what we have to sacrifice or give up in order to get to where we want to be.We trick ourselves into believing that we can have our cake and eat it too.

Another possibility is that we fail to move in a new direction because we never completely turn from our old direction. Or let me put it this way, we turn from it but it is only temporary because we left the road behind us still an option just in case the new road gets hard. Unfortunately, the road is going to be hard anytime we decide to do something different or worth the while. But it will be worth the while! There will be obstacles but also greater rewards.

Don’t leave going back and option! Or you will go back. Don’t even dabble. Or you will get sucked right back to where you were. I know it hurts to hear that but this is the decision that we have to make when decide to make a change for the better.

So, how? The answer is in the verse at the beginning of this blog. God established light by saying the word, “Let”. This is a very powerful word. It means, “to permit or allow”.  When we let, permit or allow change to happen then we get change. When we don’t let change happen then we don’t change. So, as we move forward with our new resolutions, goals, aspirations, dreams, or new way of living we have to decide to let it happen. It’s going to be different, but let it be different, it will be uncomfortable, but it is okay, let it be uncomfortable, and it will be hard, but let it be hard. Don’t resist the change, embrace it.

You will find that the more you let the change happen the more you will enjoy the journey. You will feel enlightened and energized. You have pride in yourself. You will be in control of your destiny rather that being controlled.

You are heading places that you have never been before. So you are not familiar with what is ahead. That is okay, let the unfamiliarity happen. You will become familiar in time.

Neal Walsh said, “Life begins at the end of our comfort zone!”

I challenge you as you move forward to LET the new change happen!

Have a blessed day!
