Taking Time to Reflect

Reflection is something that I have not always done on a consistent basis, at least on a conscious level. Over the past few years I have learned to find value in reflecting on my life. I have learned that it teaches me who I am and helps me realign myself to who I want to be. I have come to the conclusion that it is not through experience alone that I learn and grow but during the process of reflection that I learn things about myself. Things I like and don’t like.Things in which I approve and do not approve. It is during reflection that I can honestly examine my life for what it is and not what I believe it is. When life gets fuzzy or a little confusing, reflection is where I can find clarity in my life and I believe that you will too.

Reflection is simply taking a genuine look at ourselves in the mirror, inside and out.

Reflection is something that we do subconsciously but I want to challenge us to a deeper level of reflection, that is a conscious, purposeful, intended exercise of reflection on a consistent basis. This is a deeper and more focused reflection than what we subconsciously experience. I am talking about taking a detailed look at our lives, relationships, actions, non-actions, how we are spending our time, and any thing about oursleves that needs looking at. Do this with pen and paper, writing down the things that comes to your mind.Weekly reflection is beneficial to me, some people that I know do this daily. Whatever you find that is the most beneficial to you, do that. The important thing is that we take time to consciously reflect. It is through deep consistent reflection that we not only learn things about ourselves but we also can ignite dreams and ideas that we would not have sparked if not for deep reflection.

Do you reflect often? If you do, then I would love to see some comments about the benefits you have gained from reflecting. If you do not reflect consistently, then I want to challenge you to give it a shot. I believe that you will discover that it can be very enlightening.

Today is Dec 31st 2016. A good day to reflect on the year behind us and design the year ahead of us!

“If you don’t design your life plan then you will fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.” ~ Jim Rohn

God Bless and Happy New Year! I hope 2017 will be the best year of your life!
