I woke up this morning and took a deep breath in as I thought, ” it’s going to be a good Friday!” I do not have to work today. It is going to be a beautiful sunny day. I think I will write a little, read a little, work in the yard a little, and then prepare a nice meal for my family.
Then it hit me, it’s Good Friday!
All of sudden my good Friday turned into an amazing Friday! I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude because on this day over 2000 years ago, Christ died for my sins. My debt was paid. Now I am free. Eternity is mine. I get to enjoy this life on earth as a free man, and then when I pass on, I get to spend eternity in heaven. Now, that is something to be grateful about.
And it all was paid for on this day…..
John 19:30-31, is one of the most powerful scriptures in all of the Bible to me. It says,”When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
In that moment Jesus took my sins and felt the punishment that I should have felt of being separated from God. In that moment as he drank from the cup, every sin that you and I have ever committed or will commit was upon him. Gone, forgotten, forever.
I don’t know about you but that is the ultimate sacrifice anyone could ever do for us, especially someone that had had never committed even one sin of his own. He didn’t even have to pay for his own sins, he went to that cross for ours.
As you go into your day I encourage you to reflect on what happened on that cross and accept your paid ransom. You are now just as free from your sins as anyone that has ever been. If you believe.
I hope you enjoy this Good Friday and also the rest of your life as a free man or woman as I will.
All is well with God now. When He looks at you and I He does not see our sins anymore. He see’s His Son, Jesus.
Oh, not only is it going to be a good Friday, but also, Sunday is coming!
Have a blessed day everyone!
